Project Launch!

We are extremely excited to announce the launch of the third installment in our series of projects devoted to exploring the ‘Sound of Clothes’. Following a synaesthetic investigation into images featuring garments from the S/S '06 Balenciaga collection and a specialist Anechoic sound-recording of ‘noisy’ garments, this project gives special attention to accessories, carefully selected from the A/W ’06-7 collections. Created by our very own Ross Phillips in collaboration with designer Marie O’Connor, the series of four, specially-created interactives, playfully brings over one hundred accessories –by designers including Alexander McQueen, Christian Dior, Florian, Pierre Hardy, Maison Martin Margiela, Yves Saint Laurent and Y-3- to life. By making specific noises into a microphone attached to your computer (or a microphone enabled web cam such as an iSight, you can then activate each of the different ‘stories’: 'Blow' into your microphone to assemble a selection of accessories onto a model; 'Clap' your hands to reveal an animated sequence of shoes and abstract cutout shapes; 'Talk' at varying decibels to view a range of varyingly sized jewellery and 'Hum' to unfold a selection of crumpled ‘pages’ featuring illustrative bag collages. Well, what are you waiting for?!!
