American fashion designer Michael Kors studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York before launching his eponymous fashion label in 1981 and the line was soon picked up by a number of high profile retailers including Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue. In 1997, Kors joined french house Céline where he developed the accessories division of the brand alongside introducing a sleekness to its ready-to-wear. Leaving the house in 2003 to concentrate on his own label, Michael Kors now leads a fashion empire that alongside the mainline also features sister labels MICHAEL Michael Kors and KORS Michael Kors.
