For the 2018 edition of The Copenhagen International Fashion Fair, CIFF's Creative Director, Kristian Andersen, invited founder and director of MACHINE-A Stavros Karelis to curate the CIFF Raven Projects Area. Karelis' unwavering support and knowledge of emerging design talent presents CIFF with a curation at the cutting edge of contemporary fashion. As part of SHOWstudio and MACHINE-A's long-standing collaborative relationship, SHOWstudio are proud to operate as media partners for this exciting event.
To introduce the collaboration, Karelis interviewed CIFF's Kristian Andersen at SHOWstudio's location in London in December 2017. Karelis and Andersen discuss the process of choosing and combining international brands to create this uniquely innovative and unrivalled presentation.
From 30 January - 2 February 2018, SHOWstudio covered the fashion fair with a combination of live social media and a vary of broadcasts. Fashion Editor Georgina Evans interviewed the likes of Virgil Abloh, Max Lamb, Sami Janjer, Steve Salter, Matthew Williams and an MM6 representative, exploring the booths on show. Features Editor Lara Johnson-Wheeler spoke to Bex Cassie, Olya Kuryshchuk and Samuel Ross, asking these curators about their contributions to CIFF.
SHOWstudio also hosted a panel discussion during the fashion fair, asking whether the industry provides support for young designers and questioning the current climate for fast fashion.
Continuing this comprehensive coverage, Britt Lloyd shot intimate portraits of each of the exhibitors, inspired by Irving Penn's 1948 Corner Portraits. Gabriel Carasso also took dynamic behind the scenes images, supplying 360 degree coverage of the event. Finally, in a written interview, Lara Johnson-Wheeler spoke to Stavros Karelis about his time curating CIFF and the two looked to the next instalment in Copenhagen in August!
