About
After seven years showing in Paris, Gareth Pugh decided to return to London Fashion Week for A/W 15. His show, held at the V&A, was celebrated as the standout runway show of London, and the perfect example of an immersive, modern piece of catwalk theatre thanks to his use of film, music and lighting. The show marked the 10-year anniversary of the Pugh brand and so the perfect chance to produce new work with his long-term collaborator film-maker Ruth Hogben. The resultant film, which opened the show, presents a character engaged in a ritual act of liberation, annointing herself with the Saint George's Cross to become both saint and dragon at once. Together Pugh and Hogben create a weaponised woman, hardened and battle ready, nodding to the way the designer has previously described his work as 'modern armour.'
Watch Hogben's fashion film or see it in situ with a video of Pugh's runway show, the soundtrack of which was created specially by Matthew Stone and features the chants of Sunderland Football Club.
